OUR MISSION
We identify students’ unique learning styles and desired outcomes to create a customized academic program that ensures success in meeting student aspirations according to their interests and abilities.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
I-School is a non-traditional, year-round “blended” school combining great teachers and evidence-based technology to create a uniquely individualized, competency-based learning experience for motivated students grades 1-12.
We solve educational challenges by adapting the learning environment to the student instead of expecting students to fit into a traditional one-size-fits-all instructional environment. We do this by operating on a flexible, year-round calendar that allows motivated students of all academic abilities to pursue interests at their pace until a topic is mastered to the best of their ability. This means students work by ability in a variety of subjects suited to their interests and aspirations, rather than be grouped by age across an identical group of subjects.
Practically speaking, individualized education means a student with learning disabilities can graduate career-ready, while an academically talented student may have pursued interests in oceanography, Japanese, videography or any other subject in depth before choosing college, or even gained college credit along the way. And it means a happy, confident student who is constantly succeeding in an academically rigorous environment created just for them.
We love a challenge. Please bring us yours.

OUR VALUES
I-School is completely focused on students.
We provide one-on-one educational support and small group instruction in order to concentrate and expand on the most effective ways a student can learn and educators can teach. It’s all about the kids.

I-School is resilient in a constantly changing world.
Whatever stage a student might be at in their educational journey, we work together to ground our practices in solid research-based methods while also encouraging innovation through the latest tools and technology. We adapt through flexible schedules and open-minded approaches to new information and ways of teaching.

I-School is individually challenging.
Students engage most actively with their education when they are interested and inspired. We start with assessing a student’s needs, interests, and abilities. Then, we reinforce student potential as mastery is gained and assist them in identifying their strengths and weaknesses, so that we may ensure continued growth. A confident student is a happy student whose mind is open to new challenges.

From collaborating with educators to create their own unique schedules, to pursuing interest-based projects, students have more control over their education. This responsibility opens up additional freedom for students to learn more about themselves, not solely as students, but also as individuals and community members. Students move from passive recipients of one-way information to active participants in shaping their futures.

"Our family has tried every combination of education available throughout Nevada and northern California. Imagine our delight to find the perfect solution right here in Reno."

OUR COMMITMENT TO FAMILIES
Establishing Transparency
I-School recognizes the trust families place in our faculty and staff to guide and support their student’s educational journey. In return, we strive to be accommodating and reliable in order to ground and strengthen the partnership between families and our school.

Building Unity
We coordinate the student and family’s needs into a united schedule. This personalized approach places the student on the path they need to be successful and opens up more space for the family to spend time on the things that matter most – and that most benefit their children.

Creating Partnerships
We understand that families have busy lives. Therefore, we are committed to communicating efficiently and effectively to families so that they are actively involved and informed about their student’s progress and growth.

Reliable Flexibility
Family travel and extra-curricular involvement is encouraged as an opportunity for students to learn outside the classroom. We can work with students through Skype, online, or phone calls, and integrate such commitments into their academic schedule.

Ensuring Academic Rigor
We measure our success by our students successfully meeting their academic goals and proving competence before moving on to the next level. While A grades are hard-won, there are also no D’s or F’s. We work with students to ensure they can demonstrate at least a C for basic mastery. Our teachers and study materials are carefully aligned to student needs and abilities to ensure the best possible outcome for each student.
